Life without Jesus is Meaningless!

Have you ever asked yourself, what am I doing on earth? What is my purpose in life? That is the most frequently asked question about life. Look no further! One of the wisest, most affluent person in the Bible asked that question. Here is a man with excellent knowledge, wealth, and riches, but yet found himself asking the same question. That man was King Solomon. He examined everything under heaven and concluded that everything is meaningless.

  1. Wisdom is meaningless ( Ecclesiastes 1:12-17)
  2. Pleasures are meaningless ( Ecclesiastes 2:1-16)
  3. Toil is meaningless ( Ecclesiastes 2:17-26)
  4. Advancement is meaningless ( Ecclesiastes 4:13-15)
  5. Riches are meaningless ( Ecclesiastes 5:8-20)

Think about it. What’s the point of eating, sleeping, breathing, working – if, in the end, we die and everything we’ve worked for is gone? Nothing. When you are tired of your Job, you will ask what’s the point of toiling? When the kids leave for college, you find yourself asking, what now? You can lose your job, your health can deteriorates, or lose a loved one. Jesus warned us about this when He said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal …” (Matthew 6:19-20). One day, we will depart from this earth and leave everything we worked so hard in life behind. “Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die.Life is too precious to live for temporary things”(Psalm 103:15). So, how do we have a meaningful life?

Life without Jesus is meaningless. Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. There is no other way to know God besides Jesus. There’s no way around it. Everything starts and ends with him. Life with Jesus is meaningful. He gives us life and purpose. Jesus tells us to “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you“(Matthew 6:33). We do not live for temporary things on earth. 1 Peter 1:4 “an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” My question to you today is who are you living for? There is no time to waste, or money apart from Jesus. King Solomon concludes his search saying “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil“(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).
